Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file” stops me from running ANY exe on Win2k3 Server

If you find you are getting Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file” stops me from running ANY exe on Win2k3 Server after installing IE8
Ensure that your intranet settings are on in IE8 if they are then this may help
From the workstations that can’t run the files, add the servers to the Trusted Zone - file://server
Then in the Security tab of IE Options, select the Trusted Site checkmark then hit the Custom level…button.
Scroll down to under Miscellaneous for “Launching applications and unsafe files” - set it to Enable

Event ID 7000 Parallel Port fails
Posted by NewsFeeder on 5th May 2009
Event ID 7000’s
Description:
“The Parallel port driver service failed to start due to the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.”
Then you have the ParPort service not starting.
This happens if you upgrade your Windows 2003 server hardware (motherboard) that HAD a Parallel Port, but are now on a new motherboard that has no Parallel Port.
Quick fix:
Open Regedit
Look for
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System|CurrentControlSet\Services\Parport
Edit the Start key and change the value to 4. Changing the value to 4 will “disable” the service.
On mine it was 3
Reboot the server
