Pinball machines are more or less a lost art, but one enthusiast really wants to bring them along for this whole “21st
century” thing. Hence, the HDTV pinball machine.

Constructed from one large HDTV and a smaller LCD monitor, this machine, called HyperPin, makes for a surprisingly convincing pinball
experience. The trick is in the software, Future Pinball. It’s a real-time 3D pinball simulator for the PC, with which enthusiasts
can recreate and play on their favorite tables in a simulated arcade. Builder BadBoybill (indeed!) took this all a step further,
adapting the app to display on two screens, giving the appearance of an actual table. Bumping, shaking and drink-resting are not
recommended. Via [GIZMODO]

NVIDIA’s GeForce 3D Vision package is loaded up with powered 3D glasses (charged via USB) and an IR emitter to keep everything synced between the display and your glasses. The good news is that you’ll have something to use these with since Left 4 Dead, WoW: WotLK and several other games are already compatible. More are expected to follow soon.

CES had a demo and so far we haven’t heard about any headaches or other strange side-effects so it’s all good and completely stereocopic 3D. The price? $399 for the display and $199 for this set when it’s available in the next few days. But I have one question for you. Just how close do you really want to get to those zombies?

What’s great is, no red and blue like the old nerd 3D glasses and they don’t look half bad.

LumiSource BoomPod for young gamersThese days we want games to be super realistic. It’s all about better graphics and sound as well as clothing technology that puts you into the gaming environment.

Rumble controllers were just the beginning. The LumiSource BoomPod is another such accessory. This one is designed to park your butt on, offering multi-directional tilt to the gamer sitting on it. Some other features include: Integrated 3″ 2-way speakers, Fully adjustable volume control, Illuminated control knob, RCA input jacks, Plush two-tone microsuede surface, Audio cords and Built-in handle.

Sadly this one is designed for kids under 12. But at least it’s only $35.

World of WarcraftIf you are a PC gamer odds are you have played or are still playing the most successful MMORPG title ever offered — World of Warcraft. To many gamers this game is more addicting than all of the Coke and pizza in the land.

Back in October, I reported that WoW had hit an astounding 11 million subscribers worldwide. This week Blizzard has announced that WoW now boasts 11.5 million subscribers thanks in part to the very successful launch of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack.

The newest expansion pack moved 2.8 million copies in its first 24-hours, setting a record for most copies sold in the first day of launch. Blizzard says that the expansion pack has sold over 4 million copies to date. It’s hard to believe that WoW added 500,000 users in about two months. I guess we should expect to hear the 12 million subscriber announcement shortly.
