The antenna on top is the on/off switch. It comes in a plain version with just the saucer and light ray and you can also get the more humorous cow abducting edition and a human version. The Alien Abduction Lamp is in the functional prototype stage.
Lets hope this gets out in the shops for purchase !!!

It sounds wrong, but I’ll just say it. I’ve never seen a joystick so huge in my life. Now that I have I want one. This has to be the most awesome lamp ever for a bachelor geek. You can make one just like it with a little hard work and some nerd enthusiasm.
You’ll need the enthusiasm as this DIY project is a bit more time consuming then some others. The creator was able to get it done with just a small supply of basic tools. If you have a band saw or a scroll saw, you should be able to knock one out faster. Check out the shade too. It’s brimming with retro Atari cartridge art.
Now how about some paddle controller dimmer switches?

The Ziplamp by Merry Design Studio is an ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styren) light stick hiding inside in a neoprene cover. To turn on the Ziplamp, just… Well, unzip the cover until you have the desired amount of light. It’s a pretty nifty, almost organic looking looking way of using lighting. I don’t see why it couldn’t be incorporated directly into the wall, or the roof of a car for that matter.
The Ziplamp almost seems a bit sexual given it’s unzipping nature. They should probably have a miniature version you can put under your clothes. That way you can wow the ladies and they’ll tell all their girlfriends that you were so amazing you exuded light from your privates. That’s a ringing endorsement.
Sadly it’s but a concept. One I hope makes it into mass production.
