
OQO showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show this week its new model 2+ small form laptop. The company said will be available in the first half of the year for around $1,000 starting, through pre-orders can be placed now.
The OQO model 2+ weighs less than a pound and measures 5.6- x 3.3- x 1-inches. It sports an embedded Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) display, increased brightness and contrast with better outdoor readability. It is available with a 1.86GHz Intel Atom Z540 CPU and 2GB of RAM.
Features of the model 2+ can include worldwide 3G capability, up to 3.5 hours of working time on the standard battery, a touchscreen interface with stylus and finger support and several security options. It will be compatible with many OQO accessories.

I have good news for those who are waiting for the highly anticipated Sony VAIO P netbook. The world’s lightest 8-inch netbook is now officially confirmed. Weighing at just 1.4 pounds, this Vista-based netbook offers 1,600 x 768 resolution LED-backlit XBRITE-ECO LCD display, 802.11n WiFi, 3G WWAN, Bluetooth, webcam, a battery good for four hours (eight hours with the optional high-capacity cell) and a GPS module. There is also an instant-on mode that launches directly into Sony’s Xross Media Bar interface. HP unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show this week a new netbook PC for the on-the-go crowd. It is called the Mini 2140 and it starts pricing around $500.
The Mini 2140 is a 10.1-inch display PC built into a simple aluminum case and starting around 2.6 pounds. It sports a nearly full size QWERTY keyboard, runs off of an Intel Atom processor and has an option available to carry an 80GB solid state drive.
Other features of the Mini 2140 include Wi-Fi Certified WLAN, Bluetooth 2.0, VGA Webcam and several protection schemes to enhance the physical life of this small form laptop. It will be available starting later this month.

Hewlett-Packard will launch the HP Pavilion dv3z 13.3-inch notebook with AMD’s processors including AMD Turion, Turion Ultra, or Athlon dual core CPUs. The laptop also boasts the ATI Radeon HD 3200 integrated graphics and supports up to 8GB of DDR2 memory, and a 1280×800 pixels display screen.
