Panasonic developed a thin-profile panel for both Plasma and LCD HDTVs which are designed to be both high performers and environmentally friendly
In order to achieve these goals Panasonic said it had to employ newly developed materials including discharge gas and phosphor for electron generation source which has improved discharge efficiency and cell structure.

If there’s one certainty in life, it’s that gadgets get smaller and smaller while storage size goes up. Thin is in. And it’s not just TVs and display screens that are shedding pounds, but even the portables. Now there’s Samsung’s slimmest Blu-ray player. The player is only 1.5-inches thick.
With the BDP4600, other manufacturers are sure to follow and scale down their Blu-ray players as well. Because let’s face it, most look like crap. No other specs at the moment, but we’ll let you know if anything is sacrificed to gain that trim exterior. It sure looks pretty.

LG is the latest manufacturer to stretch the limits of LCD TVs. LG will unveil the “LH95,” the world’s slimmest LED LCD TV at CES in January in Las Vegas. The LG LH95 is expected to be only 24.8mm thick, which should be good enough to back the manufacturer’s claim. The LH95 will feature a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio screen and come with 240Hz TrueMotion Drive technology.
According to LG, this LED LCD TV will be the 2009 CES Innovation Award winner in the Display category. I’m not sure how much thinner they can go, but this one is pretty darn skinny. Hopefully it lives up to all of the companies boasting.
